Your child is entitled to free Nursery education (15 hours per week) from the term after their third birthday - admission typically in September, January and April each year. If your child is ready to start Nursery, please contact Admissions and complete the application form. We would be happy to welcome you into Nursery for a visit as soon as you'd like to see for yourself how wonderful Nursery provision at Forest is - contact us to arrange a visit.
We also offer 30 hours provision for those families who are eligible for the additional hours. To check your eligibility and for more information, visit the DfE website or contact us and let us help you to secure your child's place.

If your child was born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020, they’ll be ready for starting school in September 2024. Closing date is 15 January 2024.

At Forest, we take our role very seriously and pride ourselves on welcoming children into our fantastic Foundation Stage setting. We have an excellent track record in settling children quickly so that they are ready to learn, play and have fun with friends. Secondary School Places
If your child was born between 1 September 2011 and 31 August 2012, you can apply in September 2022 for them a place at secondary school for the academic year starting September 2023.
The closing date to apply online is 31 October 2022.

If you don’t live in Barnsley, don’t use the Barnsley application form or Barnsley's online system. Contact the school admissions service at you local council for a copy of their school admissions booklet and fill in the form included in it.
Applying for a place after the deadline:
You can still apply online for a school place after the closing date however your application will be processed after offer day.
If we are full?
If you wish for your child to attend Forest and we are currently full in that class, don't worry. You can appeal to an independent appeal panel. To do this, you have to complete a Notice of Appeal Form and return it to School Admissions. Appeals will be held between May and July. We have to comply with infant class size legislation and this may determine the type of appeal.
